Ensuring
the Growth and Success of the Lodging Industry in Washington State.
The Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association (WSH&LA),
incorporated in 1920, is a non-profit trade and professional association
dedicated to the interests and improvements of hotels, motels, inns,
resorts, boatels, condominiums, and bed and breakfast facilities in
Washington State.
While working toward a favorable legislative and regulatory environment
for the lodging industry in Washington state, WSH&LA promotes and
delivers programs, resources and benefits to its members. The association
publishes the Hospitality Law Manual, a comprehensive resource for
lodging operators; and the annual Washington State Visitors' Guide,
a premier travel planner that promotes the state as a tourism destination.
From its offices in Seattle, WSH&LA serves 600 members, representing
40,000 rooms from across Washington State and more than 125 allied
members. Among the benefits it offers members are legislative and regulatory
representation, online reservations service, discounted bankcard services,
legal advice and assistance, health insurance and a school-to-career
program. (See Lodging Member
Benefits and Allied
Member Benefits for more information.)
To reflect the lodging industry's evolution to encompass extended-stay
and all-suite hotels, corporate housing, bed and breakfasts, timeshares,
gaming establishments and casinos as well as traditional hotels, motels
and inns, in 2000 the organization changed its name to the Washington
State Hotel & Lodging Association.
WSH&LA’s Mission
The Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association is dedicated to
preserving and improving the lodging industry in Washington by proactively
creating a favorable political and regulatory environment and promoting
and delivering programs, resources and benefits that address the needs
of its members and help its members succeed.
