9:00 am -12:15 pm; Virtual – Zoom Event
In this course, participants will learn eleven prelinguistic skills for toddlers and preschoolers, strategies for identifying and strengthening each of these skills, special considerations for neurodivergent learners, and activities to teach parents, caregivers, and other team members. Progress in therapy can stall when we jump ahead; it works best when we identify missing foundational skills, strengthen them intentionally, and move forward in a logical, developmental sequence. Learn the 11 Skills framework used by clinicians, families, and teams all over the world.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Define prelinguistic skills for parents, teams, and teachers.
2. Identify 11 prelinguistic skills children strengthen before they begin to use words.
3. Explain how each skill is important for language development.
4. Note 2 differences in prelinguistic skills in neurodivergent children.
5. Develop at least 2 therapy activities or everyday routines to strengthen each skill.
